Because it's small and runs cheap — and because the usual ways a free finance app pays for itself are permanently off the table here: no ads, no selling or sharing your data, no bank credentials to monetize. Right now the app costs little enough to run that it simply doesn't need to charge.

Will there ever be a paid tier?

Maybe, eventually — if enough people use RunWhatIfs that it stops being cheap to run, or if there's real demand for depth beyond what the app does today.
